Em 1992, o LEAD foi criado pela Fundação Rockefeller, com intuito de inspirar um nova geração de líderes que prezam pela sustentabilidade global. Nesses 20 anos, mais de 2.400 líderes passaram pelo programa intensivo do Fellowship, tornando-se parte da rede global.

Desde 1992 o mundo mudou significativamente, sendo a
ssim, o LEAD se reinventará neste ano. Em 2012 haverá uma grande transformação que nos permitirá que os líderes emergentes enfrentem com sucesso desafios ligados à sustentabilidade global.

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF LEAD

LEAD was established by the Rockefeller Foundation in 1992 to inspire a new generation of global sustainability leaders. In the past 20 years, more than 2400 outstanding leaders have undergone our intensive Fellowship training programme and become part of our global network, working individually and collectively to ensure that the sustainability agenda influences critical decision-making across all sectors.

The world has changed profoundly since our inception and as we approach our 20th anniversary, it is now time to reinvent LEAD. 2012 will see a major transformation that will allow us to successfully address the new challenges that face emerging leaders as they strive for a sustainable world, and also make LEAD itself sustainable.

The LEAD 2.0 transition process will allow us to increase the reach of our leadership programmes through a dynamic approach that blends online and face-to-face learning. Our aim is to scale-up LEAD's impact, reduce the environmental and financial cost of training programmes and continue our support for the changing learning needs of future leaders. Central to this transformation is a new operational model that will secure LEAD's future as a self-sustaining social enterprise.

LEAD was established in the wake of the 1992 Rio conference on sustainable development: it is therefore fitting that we will launch our new model at Rio+20 in June 2012, 20 years on from the original Earth Summit and our foundation. We hope that we can count on your support as we move forward with our transformation process: we welcome your ideas and feedback. More information about our new strategy will be available in the next few months but in the meantime, you can follow our progress on LEAD's website.
